Locksmith software that runs the whole shop
Nyrano is business software built for locksmiths, with automotive work at the centre. This page walks through what it does, who it suits, and what it does not do.
What is locksmith software?
Locksmith software is a business management tool for a locksmith shop: it holds the jobs, customers, stock, prices and payments in one place, so the shop does not run on memory, paper and chat threads. Most locksmiths who use software today use a general field service tool made for plumbers and electricians. Nyrano is made for locksmiths, and it treats vehicles, keys and transponders as first-class records instead of free-text notes.
What Nyrano does, module by module
| Module | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Jobs | Scheduling, status from first call to payment, job history, assignment to a technician |
| Quotes | Line-item prices with VAT, a link the customer accepts from their phone, valid-until dates, automatic job updates |
| Customers and vehicles | Contact details, every car per customer, key and service history per car, search by number plate in your own records |
| Inventory | Key blanks, transponder chips, remotes, tools, reorder levels, supplier orders and cost history |
| Money | Charges with VAT, payments by cash, card terminal or bank transfer, part payments, what is still owed, costs, takings and profit reports |
| Invoicing | Not for UK shops yet: you issue the invoice in your own invoicing or accounting tool |
| Team | Roles and permissions, a web dispatch board with each van on a map during the shift, arrival-time links you send to customers |
| Follow-ups | Automatic WhatsApp check-in from your own number after a paid job, an email when a reply says something is wrong |
| Mobile | Android app that walks a technician through the job one step at a time |
Jobs: from the phone call to the payment
Every job has one page and one status. You can book the work straight away or send a price first. A job moves through clear stages (new, scheduled, on the way, in progress, completed, paid), and the app always shows the one next step instead of a wall of buttons. Parts on the job come off stock when the job starts, and the charge and the payments hang off the same record. A year later you can open the job and see what was done, with which parts, for how much.
Quotes the customer can accept from their phone
Build a quote from your stock and services, add a discount or a valid-until date, and send it as a link from your phone's share menu (WhatsApp, text or any other app) or by email from the web app. The customer opens the link on their own phone, sees the price with VAT, and ticks a box and types their name to accept, or declines. Their yes is saved with that name and the time. You can see when they opened the quote, and when they accept, the job moves forward on its own and you get a notification. Quotes that pass their date expire automatically, so the pipeline shows what is really open. You can also mark a quote as accepted in person when the customer says yes at the counter.
Customers with their vehicles attached
A customer record holds the person and every car they own. Each car stores make, model, year, colour, VIN, number plate, the key blank, the transponder chip, the remote frequency, the bitting, and free notes. Type a plate and Nyrano finds the car in your own records. For a UK shop, a plate that is not on file yet fills in make, model, year and colour from the DVSA MOT records. When the "you made me a key last year, I need a spare" call comes, the answer takes seconds, and the quote is based on what the last job really involved.
Inventory that counts itself
Every key blank, chip, remote shell and tool is an item with a quantity, a cost and a selling price. Stock goes down when a job that uses a part starts and goes up when a supplier order arrives. Each item can have a reorder level, and the low-stock list and a warning in the app tell you what to buy before you run out in a car park. Supplier orders keep the price you paid each time, so you can see what a part really costs you over the year. A shop with vans can keep stock per van, and parts on a job come off the van of the technician doing it.
Money and reports
Nyrano records what you charged, the VAT, what was paid, how, and what is still owed, including part payments and "collect later". Costs and stock purchases sit next to takings, so the profit figure is real. UK invoices and accounting links such as Xero are not in Nyrano yet, so for now you issue the invoice in your own invoicing or accounting tool. Reports show takings, costs and profit by period and by job, and export to PDF for your accountant.
Team, dispatch and arrival times
For shops with more than one person, the owner sets who can see and do what, with ready-made roles for dispatchers, shop staff and field technicians. A field technician sees their own jobs, not your takings, costs, reports or settings. The web dispatch board shows open jobs by status, which technicians are free, and where each van is while its technician is on shift. When a technician taps "Head out" in the mobile app, you can send the customer a link with the job status and an arrival time. Solo operators can switch the team features off and keep a simpler app.
Follow-ups the day after the job
After a job is paid, Nyrano sends the customer a short WhatsApp message from your own business number, by default the next day, asking if everything works. Replies land in your normal WhatsApp Business app. If a reply says something is wrong, you get an email, so a sticking key becomes a quick return visit instead of a one-star review. You set the delay and the quiet hours, the same customer is not asked for a review twice within 90 days, and anyone who replies "stop" is never messaged again.
Who is Nyrano for?
Nyrano suits independent automotive locksmiths and small locksmith teams: a solo operator working from a van, a shop with a counter and one or two vans, or an owner who dispatches a handful of technicians. It is a good fit when most of the work is car keys, transponders, remotes and lockouts, and when the business currently runs on paper, spreadsheets and WhatsApp threads. Read more on the auto locksmith software page.
What does Nyrano not do?
Nyrano is not a key code database and it does not decode a VIN into a key code. It stores the key data you enter for each vehicle, and you keep using your code lookup service for the codes themselves. Outside the UK it does not look up number plates: a plate search finds the car in your own records. It does not program keys or talk to key programming tools. It does not take card payments, and it does not issue UK invoices or link to Xero yet. It has no call centre features such as call masking or an answering service. There is no iPhone app yet: the mobile app runs on Android, and the web app opens in a phone browser. If your business is mostly commercial master key systems or access control projects, a tool built around those will serve you better.
How much does Nyrano cost?
Nyrano is free during the early-access beta. New shops join through a waitlist and are brought on in small batches, with help importing customers and inventory from a spreadsheet. Paid plans will follow the beta, and the prices are not published yet. You can book a live demo at any point to see the product and ask about timing.
Where is the data stored?
The database is hosted in the European Union and handled under GDPR. Each shop sees only its own data, and inside a shop the owner decides what each role can see. The owner can download everything at any time as one ZIP file of spreadsheets. Customers of the shop can ask for their data to be deleted, and the app has a built-in flow for those requests. The details are in the Privacy Policy, the Data Processing Agreement and the list of sub-processors.
